betting limits In online poker we have 3 betting limits where you can choose from. For beginning players we advice to play Limit Poker, because you can control your bankroll more easily and don't loose big money. Below you will find an explanation of the different limits.

Limit Poker

With 'Limit', or 'Fixed Limit' you play according to a fixed betting structure. When you play a game with €10/€20 Limit Hold'em, it means that the bet with the first two betting rounds (for the flop and at the flop) is €10 each time. If you want to raise you have to do this with €10 only. With the last twee betting rounds ( turn and river) you have to bet an amount of €2.

The blinds, which the two players on the left side next to the dealer button have to pay, are with a limit of €10/€20, €5 for the small blind and €10 with the big blind. Every round is capped at a maximum number of bets. In Europe the cap is 4 bets, in Las vegas mostly at 5 bets.

In casinos you will see many times that there is no cap when two players start 'heads-up' with a betting round. In this case they can raise and re-raise eachother unlimited until one of them goes all-in.

Limit Hold'em is the best game to start with because it's not that risky and less chance to loose too much money. You know from the beginning how much you can maximum loose on a hand.

No Limit Poker

With 'No Limits' you can bet as much as you want. The minimum bet is at all the rounds equal with the big blind. When somebody place a bet or raises, this bet is the minimum what you have to place, if you want to raise. In case the big blind is €10 and at the flop somebody bets €50, you also have to bet €50 or a total of €100. If somebody bets €10 and your opponent raises to €50. If you want to raise his bet, you have to bet at least €40, or a total of €90, because his raise was €40.

In No Limit you can win in one hand big amounts, but also loose big amounts. If you are not an experienced player or your bankroll is not big enough than we advise you not to choose for a No Limit game. You can always play No Limit tournaments because than you can buy-in for a certain amount and you can't loose more than that amount.

Other betting limits

Pot Limit is a variation which you can play a lot at Omaha but also in English casinos you can play other games with pot limit. With pot limit the maximum bet is equal to the amount which is in the pot. This is included the amount you call. For example; if there is €200 in the pot and your opponent bets €100, you can raise until €500. There is €200 euro in the pot, plus €100 from your opponent, plus €100 from your call is €400. Your call is €100 and your raise is €400, whichy makes a total of €500.

When you play online you will find a betting button so the bet will be calculated automatically.

Another limit is spread limit where you can place a bet between two limits (for example; € 1-5 spread limit). You can see this mostly at Seven Card Stud and you don't really find it at online pokerrooms.
